Positive Unterstützung! Mein Hauptziel ist es, dass die Lernenden es geniessen können, zu spielen und zusammen zu musizieren, unabhängig vom Level, Alter, den Zielen oder dem Talent.
Meine Methode hilft, eine effiziente Spieltechnik zu optimieren, während sie das Verständnis ihres musikalischen Kontexts fördert. Die Lernenden lernen, wie sie was üben können. Das „Wann“ wird als Übe-Routine an die Bedürfnisse und die Verfügbare Zeit der Lernenden angepasst. Die Resultate hängen vom Engagement ab.
Ich habe bereits vor meinem Diplom im Jahre 1989 Blechblasinstrumente, Theorie und Tasteninstrumente gelehrt. Ich unterrichtete Lernende unterschiedlichster Altersgruppen und Leistungsniveaus: Sieben bis siebzig Jährige, vom Berufskollegen bis zu behinderten Kindern. In England unterrichtete ich an Musikschulen, Privatschulen, einer Klosterschule, einer Blindenschule und einer Universität. Manche Schüler haben Stipendien und Studienplätze an renommierten Schulen, Hochschulen und Universitäten bekommen. Einige sind Profimusiker geworden.
Seit ich nach Basel gezogen bin, habe ich als Stellvertreter an mehreren Musikschulen in Basel-Stadt, Basel-Land und Aargau unterrichtet. Zusätzlich habe ich zwei kleine Stellen und Privatschüler.

Positive reinforcement! Above all, my goal is that students can enjoy playing and making music with others, whatever their age, level, goals or natural ability.
My method is to help develop an efficient technique alongside nurturing an understanding of its musical context. A student learns how to practise what. The “when” is within a practice routine tailored to students’ needs and available time. The result depends on commitment.
I’ve been teaching brass, theory and keyboard instruments since before receiving the LRAM diploma in 1989. I’ve taught a wide range of abilities and ages: From seven to seventy years old; from fellow professionals to disabled children. In England, I taught at music centres, prep schools, a convent school, a university and a school for the blind, guiding many pupils through the ABRSM system. Some students won scholarships and exhibitions to renowned schools and places of higher education. A few became professional musicians.
Since moving to Basel, I’ve deputized as a trumpet and trombone teacher at several music schools in Basel Stadt, Basel Land and Aargau and have two small brass-teaching positions alongside private students.
